Early Production Facility (EPF)
Prior to the installation of a main production facility — or to add to the production rate — a well testing facility is deployed as an early production service, operating as a fixed facility for a period of time.
Production before the plant is built
An early production facility lets an operator bring a discovery on stream ahead of the permanent surface plant — turning appraisal wells into producing wells while the main facility is still under construction.
The same approach is used on established fields to add capacity, giving additional throughput without waiting on a plant expansion.
